  1. Sometimes the next move belongs to someone else.Getting something out of your head is a good start. But what about the jobs you can't get on with yet? The ones where you're waiting for someone else, and quietly wondering whether you ought to chase them. Take this package. Steve's ready to send it, but Kevin hasn't given him the address. Let's give that unfinished business a proper home, so Steve doesn't have to keep checking on it.
  2. Open the task menu. Choose Waiting for…Open the package's menu. There's a place for this: Waiting for.
  3. What are you waiting for? Here we can say what's holding things up, and decide when to come back to it. It doesn't have to be a person. It could be a reply, some information, or something else you need.
  4. Be specific: the address from Kevin. In this case, it's the address from Kevin. Be specific enough that when you look at this later, you won't have to work out what you meant.
  5. Let’s give Kevin two days.Let's give him two days. In Follow-up after, two followed by a d means two days. Now there's a point to return to this, instead of wondering about it all afternoon.
  6. Want Lyso to follow up for you?And if you'd like Lyso to do the chasing, choose one polite email. It's optional. The message is only due to go if the task is still waiting at that point.
  7. Tell Lyso who to contact. We'll put in Kevin's name and email address. If you've saved him before, you can choose him instead. It's worth checking these details. This is the person the follow-up will go to.
  8. Give Kevin a way to reply.Let's let him reply as well. With a secure conversation, Kevin can follow the link and answer without signing in. You're giving him a simple way to get back to you.
  9. Done. It’s now in Waiting.Save that, and the package moves into Waiting. If you finish the task or clear Waiting before the follow-up goes, the automatic follow-up is cancelled. You're still in control.
  10. One task is now in Waiting.See the Waiting tile? That's one task you're waiting on. You haven't lost sight of it; you've just stopped treating it as something you can do right now.
  11. Your other tasks are still in Quick capture. The dentist, the plants, the meter reading: those are still yours to get on with. The package has a different next step. It needs that address first.
  12. Only see what you need right now.If you don't need to see Waiting just now, click the tile to tuck the section away. It doesn't remove the task or cancel the follow-up. It just gives you a quieter view.
  13. Less chasing. More peace of mind. That's one less thing to keep mentally checking. You know what you're waiting for, and you've decided what happens next. Let's jump ahead and see what happens when Kevin replies.
